James Maday

James Maday is the field director for Merc Strategy Group, LLC.  

He brings more than a decade of political campaign and issue management experience to the Merc Strategy Group, and currently manages grassroots and content generation programs for several Washington, D.C.-based trade associations.

Maday came to Chicago from Washington D.C, where he worked on Capitol Hill for six years. He served as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Michael Oxley (R-OH), advising him on telecommunication, tax, small business, labor and trade issues. After Oxley’s retirement, Maday worked in government affairs at the Telecommunications Industry Association where he advocated the public policy positions of 600 telecom equipment manufacturers directly to Members of Congress, White House staff, U.S. Government agencies and foreign embassies on issues ranging from communications regulation to foreign trade policy.

A Cleveland, Ohio native, Maday graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and history. He is a Board Member and Director of Public Affairs at Rise Above It, a non-profit that provides direct assistance to adolescents and young adults battling cancer. He is a member of the Chicago Public Affairs Group, Ancient Order of the Hibernians and a Board Member for the Cleveland St. Ignatius High School Alumni Association-Chicago Chapter.
